Dream, Realized

Do you ever feel that sometimes in order to stay committed to something you love, you need to take a step back?

Because where did I disappear to the last six weeks?
I don't really know.
After my last blog post, I felt drained.
I needed some time to recharge my battery.
And as a result, this blog went very very quiet.

It was as though after a thirty-month literary gestation, my mind needed time to rest before I geared up for the final push.

As it turned out, the blessed event was unremarkable. One morning last week, two years of blood, sweat and brain cells arrived nestled in a manila padded envelope. The mailman had no way of knowing that he was "delivering my baby."

But he was.

And now I can't wait for it to be in YOUR hands!

December 2nd is the official birth day for "Novel Interiors" so be sure to look out for it at your favorite bookseller. If you pre-ordered it on Barnes & Noble or Amazon or any other quick-ship online retailer, you should also receive it that day. It's also available on Kindle (so you can zoom in on every detail of Ivan Terestchenko's gorgeous photos).

Note: In the United Kingdom, the book comes out on December 18th (at least it does at Waterstones and The Book Depository.)

This past Thursday night "GIRLS" co-creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner and former HBO executive Sue Naegle threw me a very special advance book party in the Los Angeles production office I've spent the past ten months designing for them. I can't show you any overall photos of the space because Glamour magazine and Refinery 29 were just in to shoot it...but I think this tiny corner of the screening room will be all right with them.

Here I am with my brand-new Sharpie signing my very first book ever!

(Me with designer Schuyler Samperton, whose beguiling bohemian home graces the book.)
