Great 20th Century British Aesthetes

Stephen Tennant. Noel Coward. Dirk Bogarde. Osbert Sitwell. Cecil Beaton. Harold Acton (if anyone can ever find me a copy of "Memoirs of an Aesthete", I'll be indebted to them forever). Beverley Nichols. E.F. Benson. Ronald Firbank. Saki.

The next time you're in a good used bookstore, run to the shelves and hunt for some of their brilliant (and often brilliantly funny) works.

Then open a page and instantly elevate your afternoon.

Where I live, there's a free used book store, called Book Thing. You can take as many books as you want and either keep them or return them. No limit! I have gotten some of the most incredible treasures there. I will keep my eye out for the Aesthetes book.

Ms. Giramonti,

ADDall, the rare and used bookstore megasite, lists 59 copies. (Many, however, are duplicates). Among them is at least one first edition for about $350. Most of the others appear to be used copies of the American 1970 edition at much more reasonable prices.

Just Google ADDall, and go to the "used" subsite. You won't regret it!
